Carolina Tiger Rescue, formerly the Carnivore Preservation Trust, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit wildlife sanctuary whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild.

Carolina Tiger Rescue is open to the public for guided tours, by reservation only.

Days may be numbered for owning exotic animals in Ohio

Cindy Shaffer holds a photo of her exotic cat, Serafina. The animal, similar in appearance to a cheetah, was kept as a pet and has been missing for two months.


Rules are not being drafted in Ohio to ban the ownership of "wild and dangerous" thanks to an agreement between the state's Governor, Ted Strickland, and the Humane Society of the United States. The action follows an incident where a bear attacked and killed his caretaker in August.
